At The École Militaire in Paris, designer Thom Browne sends an army clad in military cuts, reflective sunglasses and vivid red lipstick down the runway for Men's Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014. We spoke to the lead make-up artist and our very own Sil Bruinsma about working on this exciting show.
"Thom had a strong vision of pale skin, rouged cheeks and a scarlet red lip for the models," says Sil. Some models were also given a tattoo on their arms of an anchor in a color corresponding to the outfit. "The look was a play between masculinity and femininity, calling reference to Luchino Visconti's 1969 film The Damned."
"It was one of my favorite shows to work on this season," says Sil, "especially because the boys were great sports and totally got into character for the show. Working with Thom is always an exciting and inspirational experience."
