Ryan Mitchell and photographer Mark Luckasavage celebrate the ethos of alternative cultures for Document Journal. 

The idea behind the shoot was to photograph real people with real stories, unique characters. People they could both relate to as they both grew up in the punk scene. 

They shot punks, performers, artists, misfits. People who don’t conform to social norms and aren’t afraid to be unapologetically themselves. 

Over two days in London Mark and Ryan shot a series of portraits and group shots while the street cast was interacting and dancing to insane music. 

Their aim was to capture the people as authentic to themselves as possible, in some photos Ryan worked with the cast to create the hair looks they have always dreamt of creating, while in others they decided to keep their hair, makeup and outfits just as they came to the studio.
