Tomo Jidai developed an obsession with hair when as a child his mother took him with her to the most famous hair salons in his home town Tokyo, Japan. Once he left school, Tomo trained in salons before moving to London to pursue a career in session hairstyling.
Since starting his freelance career in 1999, Tomo has gone on to work with photographers such as Craig McDean, Michael Jansson, Steven Klein, Mert & Marcus, Gregory Harris, and Josh Olins. His clients include Valentino, Narciso Rodriguez, Louis Vuitton, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, and many more.
Now residing in New York with his wife and son, Tomo travels globally for shoots and shows, finding his inspiration from film, music, art, and street style.
