Earlier in the year i-D Magazine approached Tina Outen with the idea to commission a series of hair tutorials unlike any other. It seemed natural for the two to draw on their shared punk roots and so joining forces Tina Outen and i-D Magazine present the series Hair i-DIY with Tina Outen.
Starting with Tina’s distinctive eye for styling & colour, the i-D archive, London and its sub-cultures, Tina devised her top three inspired looks and demonstrating that today’s trends are often a hybrid of styles Tina shows her hair hybrids in the form of Rockstar Rudegirl, Pretty Punk & Surfer Grunge. Tina’s Rudegirl has a polished, modern, rockstar finish, her punk has a pretty Harajuku twist and her grunge girl is healthy and surf inspired.
Keeping the styles fit for i-DIY Tina uses colouring methords and styling products that can typiclly be found or made at home. In each episode Tina shows how to re-create the style, how to make your own products and how to colour hair using household items such as beetroot, food colouring and fabric dye!
